Remembrance Day 

A Remembrance Day Ceremony will be held at the Veterans Park (at the corner of Royal and Saint-Thomas), at 11 a.m. on Monday, November 11, 2019.

To mark the 75th anniversary of the end of the war (D-Day), a tulip will be planted in front of each of the 234 veterans stones. We invite childrens, grandchildrens, brothers, sisters or any other member of the deceased veterans who would like to plant a tulip at the stone of their loved one to please attend the ceremony. Tulips will also be planted in front of the monument established in memory of the many people who have lost their battle against post-traumatic stress. *Weather permitting.

Halloween - The municipality is encouraging that trick-or-treating takes place between 4 and 8 p.m. on Thursday, October 31. Please be careful and happy Halloween!

Every year, the Tree of Hope Lighting Ceremony is a special gathering moment. As part of the Tree of Hope Campaign, the Dames d'Acadie de Memramcook invites you to join the ceremony which will take place on Sunday, November 3 next to the Municipal Building, after the 11 a.m. mass (around 12 p.m.). A lunch will be served in the basement of St. Thomas Church after the ceremony. All are welcome.

Halloween Public Skate 

Wednesday, October 30 at the Eugène (Gene) LeBlanc Arena - The Village de Memramcook invites you to a Halloween-themed public skate:

🕸️ From 12:30 to 1:30 p.m. for adults and kids
🕸️ From 1:45 to 2:45 p.m. for adults, kids and daycares.

National Seniors Day 2019

Tuesday, October 1st starting at 10 a.m. at the Pré-d'en-Haut Golden Age Club. The road will be closed to through traffic from 8:30 am Tuesday, September 17, 2019.

Roads closed signs will be in place.

Please note :

Civic number 2 to 230 La Montain along with Nigarry Road will only be accessible via Centrale Street.
▶️ Civic number 249 to 547 La Montain along with Paul et DesBarres Streets will only be accessible via Petit/Little Dover Street.

The village regrets any inconvenience this may cause and appreciates your patience and collaboration. This closure is to allow installations of sewer services.

The Eco-Depot will be in Memramcook on September 11&12 from 12 to 8 p.m. in the Eugène (Gene) LeBlanc Arena parking lot. Southeast Eco360 is proud to offer this program, with the goal of making waste disposal more accessible to residents.

Residents of Westmorland and Albert Counties are welcome at any Mobile Eco-Depot event, not just the one closest to them or in their community.

On August 22, join us in Memramcook during our Community Day organized as part of CMA 2019. Click here to access the complete schedule of events.

Join us from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m. at the Monument-Lefebvre in Memramcook! We will have family activities (bouncy castles, face painting, etc.), a free Community BBQ (12 to 2 p.m.) a Tintamarre (11:15 a.m.), a short ceremony (11:45 a.m.) as well as some music with The Lumber Jills.

Please note : The Assumption Mass, celebrated every year on August 15, will start at 10 a.m. at the Lourdes Grotto. In the event of rain, the celebration will take place inside the church (Notre-Dame-de-Lourdes). Do not hesitate to show your pride by wearing clothes or other objects in Acadian colours.

The festivities will then continue in DIEPPE for one of the biggest celebrations of the CMA 2019.

Decorating Contest 2019

A BIG thank you and BRAVO to all those who participated in our 2nd Annual Decorating Contest. Colours and Acadian pride are shining in Memramcook!

We'd like to invite everyone to go out for a walk/drive around the village to see all the amazing decors. During this week, the photos of each participant will also be posted on our Facebook Page as well as at the Municipal building.
Don't forget to vote for your "public choice". The winner of each categories (the most original decor, the most traditional decor, the business/organization award and the public choice) will be unveiled during our community day on August 22, organized as part of CMA 2019.

The Congrès mondial acadien is fast approaching; show off your colours and Acadian pride by participating in our 2nd Annual House Decorating Contest!

Participants must decorate their homes/businesses before Monday, August 5. We will have judges who will drive around Memramcook and choose their favorite homes and businesses. In addition, the civic address of each entry as well as a photo will be shared with the public to select the “Public Choice” award.

The winners will be announced during our Community Day on August 22, organized as a part of CMA 2019.

Family Show ''L’enchantement des abeilles'' with Mario LeBreton and Delphine Porcherot will take place July 1st at 11 a.m. at the Monument-Lefebvre Theatre.

The bees-decline is a global problem. This crisis affects food and biodiversity everywhere on the planet. ''L'enchantement des abeilles'' is a musical theatre show that will introduce the life cycle of bees and will raise awareness for the situation. (www.monumentlefebvre.ca)

Free Family Activity Kits
Come and get your free family activity kit for National Acadian Day 2020! The kits will be available to pick up on Tuesday, August 11 from 9:30 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. outside the Municipal building (first come - first served).

Acadian “tie dye” Creations
The community is also invited to come and make Acadian “tie dye” creations.

Here's what you'll need to bring with you:

1) A white cotton T-shirt - or any other white item (example: pillowcase, pair of socks, etc.). Please make sure the item has never been worn or used.
2) Plastic bag (to take your creation home).

We will have 5 stations in place and only one family bubble per station. We ask participants to be patient, respect social distancing, sanitize their hands at each station and wait in line if needed. We also recommend not to wear clothes that you wouldn't to get dirty.

The ''Causeries du mardi 2020'' will take place from July 7 to August 25 at 7 p.m.via the Monument-Lefebvre Facebook Page. 

Phyllis E. LeBlanc & Christine Dupuis • Femmes et archives : quels enjeux pour la mémoire collective?

La capacité des historiens et historiennes de traiter de la thématique femme comme sujet historique dépend en première instance des sources, vestiges du passé. Les femmes ont-elles laissé des traces (écrites ou autres), de leur vie? Les sources traditionnellement utilisées pour construire le récit historique de l’Acadie permettent-elles d’éclairer l’histoire des femmes? Par le biais de quelles approches peut-on traiter les sources et mettre en valeur la mémoire collective des femmes acadiennes? On se penchera donc sur les stratégies qui permettent d’éclairer le passé des femmes et les enjeux de conservations relatifs aux documents de femmes, spécifiquement en Acadie.

Phyllis E. LeBlanc est professeure au Département d’histoire et de géographie à l’Université de Moncton, campus de Moncton. Elle détient un B.A. et un M. ès Arts en histoire de l’Université de Moncton et un Ph.D. en histoire de l’Université d’Ottawa. Membre du Groupe de recherche sur les archives et les femmes en Acadie (GRAFA), elle a tout récemment publié un chapitre qui porte sur les défis de la représentation des femmes dans le récit historique acadien : « Que nous apprennent les synthèses historiques et les contributions récentes à la recherche fondamentale en histoire des femmes et du genre en Acadie?», dans Paroles et regards de femme en Acadie. D’hier à aujourd’hui, sous la direction de Jimmy Thibault, Michael Poplyansky, Stéphanie St-Pierre et Chantal White, Ste-Foy, Presses de l’Université Laval, janvier 2020.

Christine Dupuis est archiviste au Centre d’études acadiennes Anselme-Chiasson de l’Université de Moncton. Passionnée d’histoire acadienne contemporaine, elle détient un baccalauréat ès arts, spécialisation histoire de l’Université de Moncton. Ayant entrepris des études en archivistique à l’Université Laval, elle se concentre maintenant sur la conservation des archives acadiennes. Son expérience dans divers lieux muséaux et centre d’archives acadiens lui ont permis de relever quelques défis quant à la représentation de la culture acadienne dans le milieu et à la valorisation de cette culture minoritaire. Membre fondatrice du Groupe de recherche sur les archives et les femmes en Acadie (GRAFA), elle s’intéresse à la représentation des femmes dans les archives acadiennes.
